Rocker Girl

As I've said in a past post....Mattie is a Rockin' Girl. While on vacation, we found this t-shirt that says, "This Baby Rocks!" How appropriate for our little Guitar Hero Fan. She is still sporting her mohawk and it always draws a lot of attention. We have many people ask if we actually style it that way. The answer is always no. It's just Mattie.....our little rocker girl.

We're Back

We just got back from our beach trip to the Outer Banks. I never had a chance to post before leaving since we were so busy!

We were one of seven families that went camping. We spent most of our days at the beach, but also took some time at the pool as well. Everything went great until the trip home. Matt and I drove seperately since he was pulling the camper with the truck and I had all the kids and baby "stuff" with me. When we were in the middle of no where his truck decided to die. No cell phone service......middle of no where. Our friends, who had gotten ahead of us, started to worry and turned around. Here I am in the mini with a car full and a soon to be four month old for an hour or more. The guys were getting eaten by horseflies and the kids are getting bored. What should have been a 2 hour ride home turned into a 7 hour ride home. On a positive note, no one was hurt and we really had a great vacation. Oh and he got the truck back today. No major problems. Thank goodness!

Before the trip home, we decided to stop at Jockey's Ridge. It is pretty sad that my husband grew up in the area and my children have never stepped foot onto the giant dunes until yesterday. They had a blast! I didn't think I was going to make it up the dune with the baby strapped to my front, but I did. Here are some pictures. I'll post more of our vacation later. I have a lot of Mattie and all her first experiences.

Here are the kids before the walk up the dune.

Going up.....although it looks kind of flat.

The kids loved going up and down the dune. You could see the ocean and the sound while standing at the top.

Here is Mattie. Looking cool in her shades.

Missing My Little One!

I miss my Mattie Rose! She is having her first sleepover with Nana. My mom watches her on Monday and Tuesday. She took her home for a couple reasons. First, Abby had a tournament game tonight. It was 100 degrees and boiling hot. Too hot for a baby! Second, my mom lives 25 miles away and gas prices are outrageous! We thought it was best if she went home with her to stay out of the heat and mom saves money on gas. I know she is having a wonderful time with her Nana, but her mommy still misses her. Only four more days and I'll be able to spend the rest of the summer with all my girls!

House Full!

Our friends are taking a weekend trip to the beach and we are keeping their kids and dog. We also have one of Abby's friends staying......that would be Abby, Amber, Caroline, Madison, Lee, Mattie, and Gracie the dog. Oh and don't forget us..... Mom, Dad, our dog, and the hamster.

Thank goodness for my husband. He is so great with the kids. Poor Lee is outnumbered by all these girls! Even the dogs are girls. I think Matt is enjoying having a boy around. They are playing football on ps2 and he's going to take him fishing. The girls are doing what girls do best. Girl talk and more girl talk! As I write this, I can hear them just a giggling. (Let's hope that lasts. We all know how quickly that can change with girls.) For Me......I'm going to find retreat to a nice long bubblebath. Calgon take me away!!!!!!

Mmmm.....Cereal!

O.K. today I ate rice cereal for the first time. Nana told Mommy that I needed something more than milk. She says I need something that sticks to my ribs. Mommy was going to wait, but Nana sure knows what she is talking about. That cereal was yummy! When mommy put it in my mouth, I gave her a big smile. I did a great job eating it and only made a little mess. I can get use to this eating thing. I say "Bring on the rest"! But Mommy says I have to wait a little longer.

Boy! That was mighty good!

Wacky Wednesday!

What silly girls we are! We've decided that Caroline looks like the little girl from The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, Cindy Lou Who.
How this brings back memories of playing "beauty school" with my neighborhood friends. We would always laugh ourselves silly over our creations. It's nice to see that some things will never change in a world that seems to be ever so changing.
